Location: St Petersburg, FL - 2 days in office per week

The Role

 IMS is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Payroll and Benefits Specialist to strengthen our client services and enhance payroll, benefits, and HR compliance consulting for our international clients operating in the United States.

This is not a routine payroll role. We are looking for someone who thrives in a consulting environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about helping businesses navigate unfamiliar territory. Our clients are often new to the U.S. employment landscape, so you must be comfortable going beyond standard execution - clearly explaining the U.S. setup, anticipating questions, and guiding clients who should not be expected to “just know” how things work.

You will partner with our European clients and internal teams to deliver compliant, efficient payroll and benefits solutions that support business growth in the U.S. You will be responsible for payroll and benefits delivery while sharing your expertise to strengthen internal knowledge and best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

This is a challenging and busy role suited to an ambitious, eager and organized professional.

Your key focus will be to consult with our international clients in choosing and setting up their payroll and benefits solutions and to manage the processing of client payrolls.

You will have the opportunity to develop and shape a career with us. Some of the initial duties you can expect are:

  • Consult with clients regarding their people compliance needs regarding setting up their payroll and benefits requirements in the US.
  • Assist with adding structure and organization to this function
  • First point of call for payroll queries
  • Handle tax notices
  • Work with our associates to ensure completion of timely and accurate processing activities and payment schedules for multiple client accounts
  • Oversee 401k processing
  • Healthcare consultation and administration
  • Supplier management
  • Assist Business Development in calls to explain how IMS handle our client’s compliance obligations and what the options are in the US
  • Assist the managers when they have payroll queries either directly or from the client

Ideal Requirements

  • Experience with US payroll including set up
  • Experience processing client payroll
  • Knowledge and experience of US benefits set up and processing
  • Experience with expatriate payrolls, including exposure to expat tax calculations, is an advantage
  • Payroll tax compliance
  • CPA or Accounting firm experience
  • Experience with ADP/ Paychex
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and project management with various stakeholders
  • Patient nature for communication with clients who are new to the country’s requirements.
  • Eager to understand client needs and provide effective solutions
  • Strong collaboration skills and a team-oriented mindset
